~"CREATIVE AND INNOVATIVE"~

We often hear the word of creative and innovative, both in the educational field, job field and daily life. It is not only related to craft or produce a thing, but it can be associated with finding new ways in completing a problem. The creative usually supported by the courage to get out from the ordinary things.

According to dictionary (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia) that "The creative means have brilliant idea to create or the ability to create" while innovative is renewed the things to be something different or introduce a new thing from something that already exists become more meaningful.

For me, mathematics taught how to be creative and innovative as well as other sciences. For example, in solving mathematical problems, it doesn't have one way to solve it, but a lot of ways that give same result. It depends on us how to think and all people have a different way.

The thinking creative usually thinks to be unique, different from others and get out from the usual. Indeed, this is difficult to find as any student who always copy what their lecturer taught. Some students don't have courage to share and express their idea to solve the same problem with different methods. They don't realize that they have new ideas and new methods that it is very useful for others.

The imitate a way is the easiest, but to make it different is not an easy. It needs courage and self-confidence to be creative and innovative. Whenever I am in a class share knowledge for students, I asked them to not only copy what I shared, but they should find the other way to solve the problems, they should understand the meaning and the purpose of it, then I asked them to resolve the problem by their ideas without away from the concept of that subject. I don't know what wrong is, whether they are not be able to look different or whether they don't have courage to look different. For me creative and innovative is not easy. I often hear the people say that "I am not creative because I don't have talent". Of course this is wrong statement because the creative is not a talent or was there since birth, but creative can be trained and eventually it becomes a habit that is inherent in ourselves.

Be brave to look different and out of the rule is able to train thinking creative. It can be called Think Out of The Box, we think out of the habit or existing ones. Then, open-minded and acceptance of condition around us is also can train to thinking creative. Maybe we face the condition that is not suit of us, then we feel depressed, but we should try to think positive and find new ways to overcome them. Sometime an idea will come when we feel depressed.

Furthermore, we always be confidence and no low self-esteem to create and express the creative idea. Don't care if other people do not agree with our idea because thousands of people out of there who agree with our idea. The thinking creative also can be trained by joining the creative communities. Nowadays, we can find it so easy specially on media social such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, Forums that can be chosen as we like. To generating innovative as well as same the thinking creative, but we should be continue to make change and breakthrough so that gives the valued-added of it.

Let's create something new, don't be afraid to be different. Is not something different will be the center of attention and it will open an opportunity to express our idea. I am still training to thinking creative and being innovative.

~"KREATIF DAN INOVATIF"~

Sering kita mendengar kata kreatif dan inovatif, baik dalam lingkungan pendidikan, lingkungan kerja atau pun kehidupan sehari-hari. Kreatif dan inovatif tidak hanya berhubungan dengan kerajinan tangan atau pun menghasilkan suatu produk, namun kreatif dan inovatif dapat berhubungan dengan menemukan cara baru dalam menyeselesaikan suatu permasalahan. Kreatif biasanya didukung oleh keberanian diri kita untuk keluar dari hal-hal yang biasa.

Menurut Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia bahwa kreatif adalah “Memiliki daya cipta atau kemampuan untuk menciptakan.” Sedangkan inovatif adalah memiliki kemampuan untuk memperkenalkan sesuatu yang baru dari sesuatu yang sudah ada dengan kata lain memperbaharui yang ada menjadi sesuatu yang berbeda. Menjadi kreatif berarti menemukan sesuatu yang baru sedangkan bersifat inovatif adalah memperbaharui yang sudah ada menjadi tambah bermakna.

Bagi saya matematika mengajarkan bagaimana cara berpikir kreatif dan bersifat inovatif, begitu juga dengan ilmu lainnya. Sebagai contoh dalam memecahkan persoalan matematika, tidak hanya satu cara untuk menyelesaikannya, namun banyak cara yang memberikan hasil yang sama, bahkan orang lain pun tidak terpikirkan dengan cara tersebut mampu menyelesaikannya.

Berpikir kreatif biasanya berpikir unik, beda dengan lainnya dan keluar dari hal yang biasanya. Memang inilah yang sulit ditemukan seperti halnya mahasiswa yang selalu mencontoh apa yang diajarkan oleh dosen di depan kelas, tanpa ada keberanian menggunakan ide mereka untuk menyelesaikan persoalan yang sama dengan metode yang berbeda. Mereka tidak menyadari bahwa ide dan metode yang mereka gunakan memberikan sesuatu yang baru dan sangat bermanfaat bagi yang lainnya.

Meniru adalah hal yang paling mudah, namun untuk melakukan hal yang berbeda adalah

hal yang berbeda adalah hal yang tidak mudah. Menimbulkan ide yang kreatif dan memiliki inovasi dengan memperbaharui yang sudah ada memerlukan keberanian dan kepercayaan diri yang tinggi. Setiap ada pertemuan di kelas, say sering mengarahkan kepada mereka untuk tidak meniru apa yang diajarkan namun memahami makna dan tujuan dari materi yang diberikan, selanjutnya mengajak mereka untuk menyelesaikan persoalan dengan ide mereka sendiri tanpa menjauh dari konsep yang diberikan, sehingga dapat menciptakan suatu cara yang baru dalam menyelesaikan persoalan tersebut. Entah dimana salahnya, apakah karena mereka tidak mampu atau tidak membiasakan diri untuk tampil beda. Bagi saya kreatif dan inovatif memang tidak mudah. Saya sering mendengar dari orang bahwa "saya tidak kreatif karena saya tidak ada bakat untuk kreatif". Hal ini adalah salah, karena kreatif bukanlah sebuah bakat/talent atau pun ada dari lahir, namun kreatif dapat dilatih dan akhirnya menjadi sebuah kebiasaan yang melekat dalam diri kita.

Berani tampil beda dan keluar dari jalur atau kebiasaan adalah salah satu cara untuk melatih diri berpikir kreatif atau biasa kita kenal dengan Think Out Of The Box dimana kita berpikir keluar dari kebiasaan yang suda ada. Selain itu, dapat dilatih dengan cara membuka diri dan menerima keadaan lingkungan sekitar kita. Mungkin ada yang tidak sesuai dengan kita sehingga kita merasa tertekan, namun kita coba untuk berpikir positif dan mencari cara untuk mengatasinya. Kadang kala ide akan muncul saat kita terdesak atau merasa tertekan.

Selanjutnya, menimbulkan rasa percaya diri dan tidak minder untuk menciptakan dan menampilkan ide-ide baru. Jangan mundur walaupun beberapa orang tidak setuju dengan kita, karena ada ribuan orang diluar sana yang setuju dengan ide kita. Selain itu, berpikir kreatif dapat dilatih dengan ikut bergabung bersama komunitas orang kreatif. Sekarang sangat banyak dan mudah ditemukan komunitas-komunitas orang kreatif, sebut saja di dunia maya seperti Facebook, Twitter, blogger, forum, dll yang dapat dipilih sesuka hati. Menumbuhkan sifat inovatif sama halnya dengan melatih berpikir kreatif, namun kita harus mampu melakukan perubahan dan terobasan baru agar dapat memberikan tambahan manfaat saat sesuatu hal dirasa usang dan tidak sesuai dengan keadaan.

Ayo..ciptakan sesuatu yang baru, jangan takut untuk tampil beda. Bukankah sesuatu yang beda tersebut akan menjadi pusat perhatian dan terbukalah kesempatan kita untuk mudah mengeluarkan ide-ide baru yang cemerlang. Saya pun sedang mencoba berlatih berpikir kreatif dan bersifat inovatif.

~"THE RESOLUTION FOR 2015"~

We don't realize that we have been in 2015 and so fast the year 2014 passed. Maybe we don't realize that what we have done in 2014. Have we achieved our target or not? It is very important to having planning and target. This is the way for us to take action. How great the people who are able to take action in accordance with the direction of the target.

As usual at the end of the year I always review planning and achievement of targets during the year whether it has been achieved 90% or less. And, then I make new resolution and write it into planning and target for next year. In writing the planning, we should write all the things that are expected to be achieved, despite feeling it is impossible. However, we should ignore our mind from negative and impossible mindset because everything depends on ourselves, opportunities, effort and our prayers to God. It is also possible that things may not be turned into possible.

If we open our note of planning and target last year, we can predict what percentage achievement of our effort to get it during a year. And, then we can compare it with the previous years. From this we can consider how much of our ability to achieve the targets that we set with consideration of the conditions at that year.

No word to show disappointed when our planning and target has not been achieved. It shows that we are given the opportunity to fight for achieving it and God wants us to have great experience and valuable lesson before getting what we want. Maybe our planning and target is like worldly such as job, married, having kid, education, vehicles, materials, position, etc. And, other like hereafter such as do worship an uprights, memorized the Quran and holy-book, do good to everyone, sharing positive thing with other, etc. Everything is free to having planning and target as long as we set a positive for us and others.

And, now we rewrite the resolution or planning and targets to be achieved in the 2015s. While continuing the achievement of targets in 2014 which didn't achieve. Maybe there will think that life just follow the plot, don't need to have target and dream high, don't need to complicate ourselves, and just grateful for everything that we get. For me, grateful is required because it makes our heart be roomy and sincere. However, having planning and target is absolute because it gives motivation and direction to take action in life. And, achieving the targets is great, but if it is not achieved, then we should be patient. Keep trying with positive thoughts to achieve it is super.

Ourselves like an organization in which has vision and mission as the direction and purpose of our actions. One of them is having dream, planning and target. In addition, as an advisor and leader are our hearts (feeling) and minds that will decide, provide motivation and patience as well formulate strategies to achieve them. And, other part of our body are operators that always ready to perform all actions in accordance with the vision and mission.

Age, experience, education or whatever it is, there is no reason not to write down the target that we want to achieve in the year 2015. Write down it and read it back at a certain time is better than we do not write at all because we will forget to do it.

So that, lets we write down all the things that are expected to occur in our life and ignore the impossible think because nothing could be if we don't try to do it. And, God always provides convenience for us if we do effort and prayer.

~"RESOLUSI TAHUN 2015"~

Tanpa terasa sekarang kita sudah berada di tahun 2015. Begitu cepatnya tahun 2014 berlalu dan mungkin kita tidak menyadari apa-apa saja yang sudah kita perbuat di tahun 2014. Apakah kita menyelesaikan dengan baik target-target yang hendak dicapai atau sebaliknya. Perencanaan akan target yang akan kita capai itu sangatlah penting. Hal ini adalah arah bagi kita untuk melakukan tindakan. Alangkah hebatnya orang yang mampu melakukan tindakan sesuai dengan arah tercapainya target yang diharapkan.

Seperti biasa setiap akhir tahun saya selalu mereview planning dan pencapaian target selama setahun, apakah sudah tercapai 90% atau kurang. Selanjutnya adalah menuliskan rencana-rencana yang hendak dicapai pada tahun berikutnya. Dalam menuliskan planning untuk tahun berikutnya, sebaiknya tulis semua hal yang diharapkan terwujud walaupun merasa hal itu tidak mungkin. Namun abaikan pikiran kita dari hal yang tidak mungkin karena semuanya tergantung pada diri kita sendiri, kesempatan, usaha dan doa kita kepada Tuhan. Karena bisa saja hal yang tidak mungkin akan berubah menjadi mungkin.

Jika kita buka catatan planning dan target kita tahun lalu, kita bisa hitung berapa persen pencapaian usaha kita untuk mendapatkannya, lalu kita bandingkan dengan dua tahun dan tahun-tahun sebelumnya. Dari sini kita bisa pertimbangkan seberapa besar kemampuan kita untuk mencapai target yang kita tetapkan dengan memperhatikan kondisi dan keadaan kita pada tahun-tahun tersebut.

Tidak ada kata putus asa jika planning dan target belum tercapai, belum tercapainya target menunjukkan bahwa kita masih diberi kesempatan untuk berjuang demi mencapainya dan Tuhan menginginkan kita memiliki pengalaman dan pelajaran berharga lainnya sebelum mendapatkan apa yang kita inginkan. Target yang kita harapkan mungkin saja bersifat duniawi seperti pekerjaan, jodoh, anak, jabatan, pendidikan, kendaraan, rumah, dll atau pun bersifat ukhrawi seperti hafal Al Quran, beribadah dengan ihklas, ibadah ke tanah suci Makkah, berbuat baik kepada sesamanya, saling berbagi, dll. Semuanya itu bebas kita tentukan asalkan positif untuk kita dan orang lain.

Sekarang kita tuliskan kembali resolusi atau planning dan target yang hendak dicapai di tahun 2015 ini. Sambil melanjutkan pencapaian target di tahun 2014 yang tidak terlaksana agar terlaksana di tahun 2015. Mungkin ada yang berpikir bahwa hidup saja sesuai alurnya, tidak perlu memiliki target dan bermimpi tinggi-tinggi, tidak perlu mempersulit diri, hidup seperti ini saja sudah aman dan mencukupi, serta syukuri aja apa adanya. Menurut saya bersyukur itu wajib karena dengan bersyukur hati bisa lapang. Namun memiliki planning dan target matang serta wajar adalah mutlak, karena dengan ini kita memiliki semangat hidup dan arah untuk mencapainya. Tercapainya target adalah lebih hebat, namun jika tidak tercapai, maka bersabarlah. Dan tetap berusaha dengan pikiran positif untuk mencapainya adalah lebih super.

Diri kita ibarat sebuah organisasi yang didalamnya ada visi dan misi sebagai arah dan tujuan dari tindakan kita untuk mau dibawa kemana, salah satunya adalah dengan bermimpi dan memiliki target. Selain itu sebagai penasehat dan sekaligus leader adalah hati dan pikiran kita yang akan memutuskan, memberi motivasi dan kesabaran serta merumuskan strategi dalam pencapaiannya. Sedangkan anggota badan kita lainnya adalah sebagai operator yang selalu siap untuk begerak melakukan semua tindakan sesuai dengan visi dan misi tersebut.

Usia, pengalaman, pendidikan atau apapun itu, tidak ada alasan untuk tidak menuliskan target yang hendak kita capai di tahun 2014 ini. Menuliskan target dan membacanya kembali pada waktu tertentu adalah lebih baik daripada kita tidak menuliskan sama sekali hingga lupa sehingga target tidak tercapai.

Untuk itu, ayoo tuliskan semua hal yang diharapkan akan terjadi dalam hidup kita abaikan alasan bahwa target mustahil tecapai, karena tidak ada yang tidak bisa jika kita belum berusaha dan melakukannya. Dan Tuhan selalu memberikan kemudahan untuk kita jika mau berusaha dan berdoa.

~"THE MINDSET"~

I am not too old to understand about working in education field and its management. And, I am not familiar about deep rule of education work field. Last time, I never though that I would work in education field, but I would like to be pioneer or a businesswoman and I didn't think to be an employee in government company that must obey the rule. Actually some people will be break it rules. I don't like to obey all rules because I often be curious everything. Although I knew that there are more risks if I break it or I will get ridicule. But for me, if I break some rule, I will get positive feedback, valuable experience, and good knowledge about the new things. For me, break the rule to get positive side is OK, but never do to break the rule for destruction.

When I left my job in a company or non educational, I entered the working in education field and I get something new here. I don't know is this Karma or not because I ever refused and hate this work field before. I thought I was a quiet girl and I didn't have skill to teach or motivate students in a class. It was the same when my mind thought to refuse to choose mathematics as my subject in university, I only thought as mathematician had job as a lecturer.

Then I realized, it was not wrong if I try to go out and break my thought just to get positive things. Then, I passed it, assumption and perceptions weren't all true. A mathematics graduate is not only as a teacher, but they are able to be a leader in a company and even they are sent to abroad as a leader at there. I got motivation to enter new work field, I had new challenges and although I didn't have any skill in this work field. I worked as human resource officer that we know people who work here have psychology or law skill. This work field related to human, but my skill related to numeric and mathematics. This is great challenge for me. And, I just believe and change the mindset that I was able to do this job.

From all the explanation above, more things that I share to my students at campus, it is about mindset. In my country, government asks to all the citizen to study minimum 12 years, and even continue to university. Some people will think that purpose to study in university is to find job and keep prestige in public, or to delay married time or other reasons. But I thought based on my experience it is not true, study in university is to form and change mindset become great human. When I was in a class with students, I always share that study in university just not to get good mark or try too close to a lecturer to get good mark, but the important thing that is to change the mindset. The mindset from ordinary mind become to great mind.

When a lecturer set rules to not come late into class, it is useful for us to train

ourselves to be discipline, how precious the time that we have. If we are already accustomed to the discipline since school so that it will be our habit and this is so important in working as well. Some students don't care about this, and even underestimate and break this rule, they still come late into class. They don't realize that this rule is very useful for their life in the future. When they graduate and they get job in a company. Working at company is so different experience with study in campus. In here we need more discipline and we must give good performance to them. The discipline that we get since school train us to be good personal specially in work field.

Every company has different rules for working time and different punishment if their employee come late. They will get poor performance, no incentive, no allowances and even be fired from company. But if we always come on time, it will not be occure to us.  So that from now we should follow the schedulle time in terms of classes or other activities. This certainly gives a positive performance for us as a diciplined and never wasting time that we have. This show us how to appreciate the time and appreciate others. And, the impact, they will be glad to require us in all event or activity.

Beside that, studying at campuss is change mindset how to solve the problem that we face. When a lecturer give homework and test, we must to solve it by ownself and no cheating. This teach us to maximize our energy and thoughts. Homework teach us to be smart, creative and innovative, it’s look like knife, if we make its always grind down so it will be sharp. If we always use our mind to think, we will be more intelligent to solve the problems.

Lecturer gives a test to train our readiness and mindset for receiving the material that we had as long as study. It would be satisfied if we are able to solve these problems by ourselves. Similarly, if we are in the work field. Indeed, all lecture material will not be asked in a job. We will not ask about circle volume, integral or other subject, but the important thing is the mindset and readiness in dealing with problems in work field. If we are accustomed to solving homework by ourselves, so that it will not be impossible that we will be able to solve any problems in work field. We will be easier to give good performance and obtain high position and even high salary. Maybe other best company will see our performance and they want to require us to be their employee.

Some students think that they are not capable to compete with other student from top university. They are not capable to compete with other major in university. This is wrong mindset. We shouldn't move back, but we should go ahead and change our mindset that we are the same with them. We are capable to compete with them. Although we didn't graduate from top university, but we are able to be great, is not it something great and rare occur. Strength and intelligent lies within each of us, no need to show off to others. And, by showing outstanding results, then we become an extraordinary person. No need to show off the greatness or even underestimate the abilities of others. Just plan and do it directly without telling to other until we achieve it.

Wherever we are studying, whatever university we join is, the key success is ourselves. The mindset, discipline and self-awareness from now to use maximize the positive things and positive knowledge that we learn from school and environment. Whatever major we study, it just depends on our mindset, how to follow it up with a positive and maximum. Nobody understands us except ourselves. The knowledge is so expensive, but it will be more expensive if we live without knowledge. So that we should maximize to use this opportunity to study in campus that are already within our grasp this moment. For me, I have struggled to continue my study. It is not to get prestige or position, but I thirst for knowledge in the hope gives advantage to others. For prestige, it just a gift for us of what we have done and not the primary purpose of misleading.
